HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06052012 - C.40RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Request No. 21083 to reclassify one (1) Clerk- Specialist Level (JWXD) (represented) and incumbent to a Senior Legal Coordinator (JWTA) (represented) position #5769 in the County Counsel's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: The total salary and retirement cost will not exceed $7239.00 on an annualized basis. The increased cost can be accommodated within the department's current authorized budget. BACKGROUND: The position became vacant due to a retirement in November 2011. The Clerk-Specialist Level performed the Senior Legal Coordinator duties as the back- up for almost five years and exclusively since the position became vacant in November 2011. County Counsel staff relies on the Clerk - Specialist to perform the functions of the Senior Legal Coordinator. There are numerous tasks that are performed that are not commensurate with the current classification. Reclassification is warranted and properly aligns the job classification with the desk's duties. This action will be accomplished under provisions of the Personnel Management Regulations, Section 503 Promotion by Reclassification without Examination. Both the incumbent and the action proposed meet all requirements imposed by that Section. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to reclassify would result in production delays and other serious operational impacts to the County Counsel's Office.
