HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06052012 - C.13RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Tremaine & Associates, Inc., effective March 23, 2012, extending the on-call contract termination date from March 23, 2012 to December 31, 2012 for continued environmental services for the Marsh Creek Detention Facility Bridge Replacement Project, Clayton area. FISCAL IMPACT: Project work performed under the remainder of this contract is funded by Federal Highway Bridge Program Funds (80%) and County General Funds (20%). BACKGROUND: This contract is between Tremaine & Associates, Inc. and the County on behalf of the Public Works Department to provide on-call environmental services regarding environmental compliance. An extension of the contract term is necessary to allow completion of existing task order work for the Marsh Creek Detention Bridge Replacement Project, Project No. 0662-6R4015. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) which requires necessary environmental assessments and studies pursuant to the following environmental laws and regulations: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Clean Water Act, the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Act, the State and Federal Endangered Species Acts, and the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservation and Natural Communities Conservation Plan (HCP). Therefore, it is necessary for this contract to be extended to complete task order work associated with this Project in order to obtain environmental clearance. All other terms and conditions in the Contract entered into on March 23, 2009 between the County and the Contractor shall remain in full force and effect. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the contract amendment is not approved by the Board of Supervisors, this project will not obtain necessary environmental clearances which may jeopardize funding and cause delays with construction.
