Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #26-536-8 with Jeffrey L. Stern, M.D., APC, a professional corporation, effective June 1,
2012, to amend Contract #26-536-7, to increase the payment limit by $48,000, from $216,000 to a new payment limit
of $264,000, with no change in the original term of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Payment Limit increase is due to an additional volume of
Gynecology/Oncology services than anticipated at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. No rate increase.
BACKGROUND:
On September 20, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-536-7 with Jeffrey L. Stern, M.D., APC,
for the period from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014, for the provision of gynecology/oncology services
including pre-operative and post-operative care of patients, twenty-four hour on-call coverage services, and in-service
training for Registered Nurses

at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Center.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-536-8 will allow the Contractor to provide additional Gynecology
Oncology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers through September 30,
2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and
Contra Costa Health Centers would have longer wait times and possibly go untreated.
