APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department Interim Director, or designee, to
execute a contract to accept funding from the California Department of Education in an amount not to exceed
$6,050,006 to support State preschool programs for the term July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive up to $6,050,006: State 67.26% ($4,068,973); Federal 32.74% ($1,981,033). No County match.
CFDA #s 93.596 ($1,277,943) and 93.575 ($703, 090).
State Agreement CSPP-2045/CCC Agreement 39-908 .
BACKGROUND:
The California Department of Education notified the Department on June 1, 2012 of the 2012-13 funding allocation
of the California State Preschool program services. Approval of this revenue contract will provide support funds for
the State preschool services to program eligible children and families.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, County will not receive funding to operate these childcare programs.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment and Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau supports three of the community
outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 3) "Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient"; and, 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" by offering
comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to
low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
