HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07102012 - C.30RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to execute and submit the agreement to accept funding from California Department of Education in an amount not to exceed $1,925,115 for general childcare and development program services for the term July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: County to receive up to $1,925,115: 55.93% ($1,076.673) State ; 44.07% ($848,442) Federal . CFDA Nos. 93.596, 93.575. No County match. BACKGROUND: California Department of Education notified the Department in June 2012 of the 2012/13 funding allocation for general childcare and development programs. Approval of this agreement will allow continued provision of vital childcare services to Contra Costa County children and families. The County receives funds from the California Department of Education to provide state preschool general childcare services to program eligible County residents. The program is operated by the Employment and Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Department of Education General Childcare & Development funding supports three of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self-sufficient"; and, 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
