ATTESTED: July 10, 2012 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: STACEY M. BOYD, Deputy cc: C. 1 To:Board of Supervisors From:Julia R. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:July 10, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:Request Allocation of Lifeline Transportation Program Funds for the Canal Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements Project BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Air Elementary School and the BART Transit Station at Bailey Road. This project was identified in the “Community Based Transportation Plan for Bay Point, January 2007” and within the “Pittsburg/Bay Point Bart Access Plan”. The project will serve a community within Bay Point where approximately 50% of the households are identified as low income. This qualifies the area as a Community of Concern which is a requirement of the LTP program. Receiving grant funding allows the County to leverage local funds to provide improvements for local residents that would not otherwise be possible. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve the request for allocation will eliminate this potential funding source for the project. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
