HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05222012 - C.63RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Amendment Agreement #26-398-15 (V261S-0364) with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS), effective March 31, 2012, to amend Agreement #26-398-10 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-398-11 through #26-398-14), to increase the total payment limit by $84,000 from $248,000 to a new total of $332,000, and to extend the term of the agreement to cover option year four through March 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: The Amendment is funded in the Health Services Department's Enterprise I Budget and will provide funding for option period year three from April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013. Under the term of this agreement, VANCHCS is paid a fee for service in accordance with the fee schedule which is incorporated in the Contract. The services provided for the County's patients under this Contract are billable to patients and third party payors. No rate increase. These services included specialized laboratory testing, radiology services, nuclear medicine studies, CT scans, MRI's, dermatology, gastroenterology, urology, audiology and speech, and ophthalmology services. On November 18, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Sharing Agreement #26-398-10 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-398-11 through #26-398-14), with VACNHCS to provide specialized Dermatology services to County's patients referred for treatment by Contra Costa Regional Medical Center physicians through March 31, 2012, including agreeing to indemnify and hold the Contractor harmless or any claims arising out of the performance of this Contract. Approval of Amendment Agreement #26-398-15, will allow Contractor to continue to provide specialized Dermatology services to County's patients referred for treatment by Contra Costa Regional Medical Center physicians through March 31, 2013. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, County referred patients will not receive specialized Dermatology services at VANCHCS. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: NOT APPLICABLE
