Subject:Local Planning Council Appointments and Vacancy
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development (LPC) was established in April
1998. Required by AB 1542, which was passed in 1993, members of the LPC are appointed by the County Board of
Supervisors and the County Superintendent of Schools. Childcare consumers and providers, public agency
representatives, and community representatives each comprise 20% of the LPC. The remaining 20% are discretionary
appointees. Membership is for a three-year term.
The Local Planning Council reviewed the applicants and approved the nominations. The Family and Human Services
Committee has also reviewed the recommendations for nomination at their May 7, 2012 meeting and recommends
the Board of Supervisors consider the appointments as recommended.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The community will not be adequately represented on the Council.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
To support the five County community outcomes: Children Ready for and Succeeding in School; Children and Youth
Health and Preparing for Productive Adulthood; Families That are Economically Self-Sufficient; Families That are
Safe, Stable and Nurturing; and Communities That are Safe and Provide High Quality of Life for Children and
Families.
