APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase change
order with Highland Wholesale Foods, Inc., to increase the payment limit by $65,000 to a new payment limit of
$164,000 to provide canned and frozen foods at the County's adult detention facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$65,000; 100% County General Fund, Budgeted.
BACKGROUND:
Highland Wholesale Foods, Inc., specializes in the buying and selling of opportunity purchases direct from the
various food manufacturers. As a family-owned business, it has low overhead and is located in Stockton, close to
many of the food manufacturing plants. Highland is a known low-cost provider of canned and frozen food to the
County and provides direct drop shipments of large quantities of high-quality, yet low-priced, food. The increase of
$65,000 accommodates purchases throughout the effective period 07/31/2012.
