HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05152012 - D.1RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2012/198 requesting the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors grant formal recognition to the California Nurses Association (CNA) for the classifications of Staff Nurse – Per Diem (VWWA) and Staff Advice Nurse – Per Diem (VWXF). FISCAL IMPACT: There is no initial cost association with this action. The parties will commence the collective bargaining process as defined under the Myers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA) to determine the wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment in regard to these two classifications. BACKGROUND: The California Nurses Association (CNA) has petitioned for formal recognition as the majority representative of employees in the Staff Nurse-Per Diem and the Staff Advice Nurse-Per Diem classifications. Informal Recognition for CNA for these two classifications was granted by the Board on February 14, 2012. Majority representation under EERR Section 34-12.010 has been facilitated by State Mediation and Conciliation Service (SMCS) with a card check election held on Monday, April 23, 2012.
