Subject:Approval of Purchase Order with Bay Cities Produce, Inc.
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
balanced nutrition for the patients of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. Bay Cities Produce, Inc. has been
working with local farms including the Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust to certify and purchase from local
farmers. They operate their own processing plant which meets all government and Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Points (HACCP) requirements. This allows Contra Costa Regional Medical Center to purchase locally grown
products that are guaranteed to be safe and fulfill the mandate from the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors to
purchase as much local produce as possible. Approval of this Purchase Order will allow Bay Cities Produce, Inc to
provide these services through June 30, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Center would not meet ADA requirements for
balanced nutrition for its patients.
