HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05082012 - C.64RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #24-959-21 with STAND! for Families Free of Violence, a non-profit corporation, effective January 1, 2012, to amend Contract #24-959-21, to increase the payment limit by $58,250, from $107,500 to a new payment limit of $165,750 and to increase the automatic extension payment limit by $13,125 from $53,750 to $66,875, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: This amendment is funded 100% by State CalWORKs through the Employment and Human Services Department. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: In August 1997, the State of California Legislature passed Assembly Bill 1542 which brought major changes to the welfare programs previously operated by the State. Among the changes was a provision that required treatment of substance abuse and mental illnesses of Welfare-to-Work participants, when these conditions interfere with participation in Welfare-to-Work activities. On January 10, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-959-20 with STAND! for Families Free of Violence for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 which includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2012, for the provision of mental health services including: individual, group and family collateral counseling, case management, and medication management services to CalWORKs participants to reduce barriers to employment. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #24-959-21 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services through June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will experience delays in receiving the mental health services they need in order to participate in Welfare-to-Work activities.
