HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05082012 - C.48RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with the Contra Costa Community College District, including mutual indemnification, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $40,000 to provide police dispatching services for the period June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2017. FISCAL IMPACT: No net County cost. $40,000 revenue over five years. BACKGROUND: The Office of the Sheriff will provide police dispatching services, limited to law enforcement activity for the Contra Costa Community College District. Services will include dispatching, call-taking, sending and receiving voice and data traffic, answering emergency (911) calls and warrent checks to aid the College District's Police Department. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve this contract will result in the inability of the Sheriff's Office to provide the Contra Costa Community College District with adequate 911 Dispatcher Services resulting in a safety concern for the community, reduced revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
