HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05082012 - C.36RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21061 to add one (1) Accountant II (SAVA) (represented) position at salary level ZB5 1444 ($4340 - $5276) and cancel one (1) Administrative Services Assistant III (APTA) (represented) vacant position #13271 at salary level ZB5 1631 ($5223 - $6349) in the Employment and Human Services Department Administration Fiscal Bureau. FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval of this action, there will be an annual cost savings of approximately total $22,000. Administrative Services Assistant III, Position 13271, is a budgeted non-driver position and is funded approximately 90% FED/State allocations. Converting this position to an Accountant II position will result in an annualized savings of approximately total $22,000. At the time of the closure of the Office of Revenue Collections these duties were performed by the Office of Revenue Collections Administrative Services Assistant staff. The Benefit Recovery Accountant is responsible for the daily oversight of positing and reconciling collections, developing collections accounting procedures, and providing lead direction to benefit recovery accounting staff. This position interacts frequently with the Collection Officer who receives client calls, makes payment arrangements, and accepts credit card payments. The position also interacts with internal and external IT staff regarding CUBS and CalWIN transactions and the interface of the two systems. Recommends and writes new internal accounting procedures and controls as appropriate. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Department will not have an appropriately classified individual performing the accounting duties as needed.
