HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05082012 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5056 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $4,340,048 from the State of California under SB678 California Community Corrections Act of 2009 and appropriating it to the Community Corrections Performance Incentive Fund for expenditure in the current fiscal year to provide evidence-based probation supervision activities. FISCAL IMPACT: No direct impact to the County General Fund, as the new revenue and expenditure appropriations are accounted for in a separate fund as required by statute. BACKGROUND: In October 2009, the Governor signed Senate Bill 678, authorizing the establishment of the Community Corrections Performance Incentives Fund (CCPIF) in each county. Revenue deposited in the CCPIF will be restricted to the Probation Department for use in evidence-based probation supervision activities with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism among adult probationers between the ages of 18 and 25. The establishment of the County's CCPIF was approved by the Board of Supervisors February 8, 2011. Approval of the attached adjustments will appropriate an estimated $4,340,048 in revenue to support evidence-based programs. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the adjustments are not approved, the Probation Department will not be able to obtain the necessary resources to comply with new program mandates and the County will be out of compliance with the requirements of SB678.
