HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07122011 - C.83RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and Authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department,
to execute a Purchase Order with Siemens Enterprise Communications in the amount of
$448,704.44 for the replacement of the damaged phone system at the Contra Costa County
Regional Medical Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
The phone system at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center sustained damage due to a
water break in a HVAC line. The system which was installed when the hospital was built
and parts are no longer readily available in the event of an emergency. The phone system is
critical for internal and external communications for the Hospital. This purchase must be
made as the next release of the phone system will no longer support the phones at
workstations. Having to replace the phones on top of the cost of the switch would add about
$500,000 dollars or more to the project. The current system is on borrowed time, we risk a
lengthy downtime caused by part shortages or possibly the replacement of the switch
