Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #26-492-13 with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC, a
limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $685,000 for the provision of remote
order entry of physician medication orders for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and
Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-492-10 (as
amended by Amendment Agreements #26-492-11 and #26-492-12) with Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Services, LLC to provide remote entry of physician medication orders from the
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers including, but not limited to,
review and entry of all medication orders into the Customer’s Pharmacy Information
System, resolve all incomplete or questionable

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
orders submitted by County Pharmacist, provide clinical support to hospital staff, and
conduct daily briefings with the Director of Pharmacy, for the period from June 1, 2010
through May 31, 2011.
This Contract includes modification to the General Conditions, Paragraph 18
(Indemnification) to mutually indemnify both parties for any claims arising out of the
performance of this Contract. Approval of Contract #26-492-13 will allow the Contractor to
continue to provide services, through May 31, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, after-hours medication orders would not be processed for
patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers.
