HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07122011 - C.77RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute a Renewal to Purchase Order with Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., in the amount of $850,000.00 ($425,000 per year) for two (2) years for continuation of printed Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) member materials and ID cards, for the period from August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise II Funds. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: Contra Costa Health Plan is mandated by Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide legal written documents explaining the contract between CCHP and its members, as well as material explaining how to use the Health Plan’s benefits. These documents can change regularly as laws and benefits on health care change. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) April 2008, no local vendor was found that could deliver on-demand printed materials required by regulations at a comparable low price. Clarity's on-demand services means that CCHP no longer needs to order or stock potentially unnecessary quantities of such printed materials, and is assured of meeting timely distribution requirements. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Purchase Order is not approved, CCHP will incur higher costs with respect to the printing and distribution of mandated membership materials. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
