BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Mental Health Commission was established by order of the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisors on June 22, 1993, pursuant to the Welfare & Institutions Code 5604, also known as the
Bronzan-McCorquodale Act, Stats. 1992, c. 1374 (A.B. 14). The primary purpose of the Commission is to serve

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and to the Mental Health Division and its staff.
Commissioners are appointed by members of the County Board of Supervisors from each of the five districts for a
term of three years. Each district has a consumer of mental health services, family member and an at-large
representative on the Commission, for a total of 15 members plus a representative from the Board of Supervisors.
Ms. Centeno resides in District V and has submitted an application to serve as the District V Member At Large Seat
which she had held in the past as District II's representative.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The seat will remain unfilled.
