HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04172012 - SD.4RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE Resolution No. 2012/158 approving a side letter between Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and United Chief Officers Association (UCOA) to establish the process for equalizing the current salary of the Fire Training Chief (RWHA) and Battalion Chief (RPHA, RPHE) classifications. FISCAL IMPACT: The annual cost of realigning the salary schedules is approximately $17,000, including $4,800 in pension costs. BACKGROUND: On March 27, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved the Memorandum of Understanding between Contra Costa Fire Protection District and United Chief Officers Association (UCOA) which included adding the Fire Training Chief classification to this bargaining unit. Under BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) the recently approved MOU, effective April 1, 2012, the salary of all classifications represented by UCOA will be reduced by three percent (3%), which will include the Fire Training Chief. In an effort to align the Fire Training Chief’s salary with other classifications represented by UCOA, the Fire Training Chief classification will be reallocation effective March 27, 2012. This reallocation will equalize the current salary schedule of the Fire Training Chief classification to the salary schedule of the Battalion Chief classifications (RPHA, RPHE). Effective April 1, 2012, the base rate of pay for the classifications of Fire Training Chief and Battalion Chief will be reduced by three percent (3%). CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The salary schedule of the identified classifications will be improperly aligned. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None. ATTACHMENTS Resolution No. 2012/158 UCOA_SideLetter
