APPROVE and AUTHORIZE funding in the amount of $3,000 to Volunteers in Progress
(VIP) for the Tara Hills Elementary School Garden Beautification Project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Richmond Sanitary Service (RSS) Abatement funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Tara Hills Elementary VIP group will use RSS Abatement funds to support the Tara
Hills Elementary School Garden Beautification Project. Specific items that will be
purchased include soil for planting, stepping stones for the garden pathway, plants, and
garden tools.
The Tara Hills Garden Beautification Project promotes healthy eating while planting fruits
and vegetables and community building through family gardening activities.

Subject:RSS Abatement funding for Tara Hills Community Garden
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
RSS Abatement funds are to be used instituting programs and services that directly aid in
the prevention or abatement of illegal dumping in Contra Costa County District I. If the
action is not approved, the Tara Hills Garden Beautification Project will not benefit from
the return-to-source funds.
