APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute a purchase
order, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, with Oracle USA, Inc. in an amount not to
exceed $185,000 for software licensing, technical support and maintenance for the period
July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$185,000. The whole cost is billed in quarterly installments to the Information Technology
department, which is then recovered from user departments on a per license basis.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Information Technology initiates the purchase and renewal of software
license maintenance from Oracle USA, Inc., on behalf of various County Departments. Each
participating department is charged for their percentage of the licenses and fees, as
applicable.

Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for single item
purchases over $100,000. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and
recommends approval.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Proprietary software; required by the Manufacturer to continue use.
