Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #26-374-15 with STAT Nursing Services, Inc., a corporation, in an
amount not to exceed $250,000, to provide temporary nursing services for Contra Costa
Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from April 1,
2012 through March 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by the Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase.
BACKGROUND:
For several years the County has contracted with nursing registries to provide temporary
licensed nursing personnel to assist Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra
Costa Health Centers during peak loads, temporary absences and emergency situations in
critical areas.
On April 5, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26–374–14 with STAT
Nursing Services, Inc. for the

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
period from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012, for the provision of temporary nursing
services, including Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, Registered Nurses and Licensed
Vocational Nurses.
Approval of Contract #26–374–15 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services
through March 31, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health
Centers would not have appropriate nursing coverage during temporary staff absences
therefore patients would go untreated.
