Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #23-468-3 with J. Michael Rona Consulting, LLC (dba Rona
Consulting Group), a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $200,000, to
provide consultation and technical assistance to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center
(CCRMC) with regard to lean improvements for the period from April 1, 2012 through
March 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
In May 2010, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager
executed Contract #23-468 (as amended by Contract Amendment/Extension Agreement
#23-468-1 and Amendment Agreement #23-468-2), for the period from March 24, 2010
through March 31, 2012 for the provision of consultation and technical assistance to Contra
Costa Regional Medical and Health Centers’ staff with regard to the Lean Improvement
Project.

Approval of Contract #23-468-3 will allow Contractor to continue providing services
through March 31, 2013.

If this contract is not approved, County will not be able to improve on its lean efforts at
CCRMC and benefit from Contractor’s services.
