HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04172012 - C.27RECOMMENDATION(S): Acting as the Governing Board of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, AMEND action taken on March 27, 2012, Agenda Item C.39 by appointing Ed Diokno to the Special District seat on the Oversight Board of the Pittsburg Redevelopment Successor Agency. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact. BACKGROUND: On February 1, 2012, local redevelopment agencies were eliminated by the passage of Assembly Bill x1 26. Generally, the county or city in which the former redevelopment agency operated became the successor agency charged with closing out the remaining activities and obligations of the former redevelopment agency. Each successor agency operates under the direction of an oversight board, which the State mandates be established with a membership composition described in statute. Each oversight board will be supported by successor agency staff and must comply with the Ralph M. Brown Act, the California Public Records Act, and the Political Reform Act of 1974. The actions of each oversight board will be overseen by the California Department of Finance and may be subject to disapproval or modification. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Critical appointments required to be made to oversight boards for local city redevelopment successor agencies by the Board of Supervisors will not be made in a timely manner. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
