Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-596-11 with Pringl Miller, M.D., a
self-employed individual, effective December 1, 2011, to amend Contract #26-596-7, to
increase the payment limit by $10,565, from $800,000 to a new payment limit of $810,565
with no change in the original term of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No increase in rates. Increase in
Payment Limit is due to a higher volume of general surgeries than originally anticipated.
BACKGROUND:
On December 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-596-7 with Pringl
Miller, M.D., for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012, for the
provision of general surgery services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra
Costa Health Centers.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Amendment Agreement #26-596-11 will allow the Contractor to provide additional general
surgery services due to a higher volume of surgeries at Contra Costa Regional Medical
Center, through December 31, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa
Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would experience longer wait times and
possibly go untreated.
