HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03272012 - C.50RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21059 to add one (1) Accounting Technician (JD7A) (represented) position at salary level 3RX 1236 ($3,623 - $4,627) and cancel one (1) Clerk – Experienced Level (JWXB) represented vacant position #3226 at salary level 3RH 0750 ($2,682 - $3,327) in the Office of the Sheriff. FISCAL IMPACT: The additional annual cost of $5,329 for this action is included in the Office of the Sheriff’s budget. BACKGROUND: The Office of the Sheriff, in an effort to add more experienced personnel to the Fiscal Unit, is canceling a vacant Clerk – Experienced Level position and adding one Accounting Technician position that will primarily support the Contracts and Grants Unit, as well as the Fiscal Unit. Historically, the Contracts and Grants unit did not have the support of fiscal unit staff to manage the day to day revenue and expenditure reimbursements transactions. Due to the increased need to continue to acquire more funding streams, the need for the fiscal unit staff to assist in the accounts payable and receivable aspects is critical. This request to upgrade a position in the Finance and Personnel Unit is part of the realignment within the unit. A higher skilled fiscal staff member will be better qualified to assume the role of Contracts and Grants fiscal support in addition to providing support to the general functions of the Fiscal Unit. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve this request will result in the inability to reorganize and merge the Contracts and Grants unit with the Fiscal unit.
