ATTESTED: March 27, 2012 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Carrie Del Bonta, Deputy cc: Gladys Scott Reid, Julie Enea, Roxana Mendoza C. 48 To:Board of Supervisors From:Ted Cwiek, Human Resources Director Date:March 27, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:P 300 #21017 RECLASSIFY POSITIONS IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEMS DIVISION OF THE CAO BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) for developing, coordinating, and installing automated information systems for justice departments, including project management, training, and technical assistance. The unit was staffed in the capacities of Business Systems Manager and Business Systems Analyst for many years by career County or Court employees, who had many years of experience working directly with County justice systems and business processes. With the retirement of these staff over the last five years, the positions were downgraded and recruited to ensure a broad applicant pool. The current incumbents have acquired the requisite knowledge and on-the-job experience and have been, by necessity, performing at levels beyond their current job classifications. It is recommended, therefore, that the positions be reclassified from the current classifications: Senior Business Systems Analyst and Administrative Aide, to Business Systems Manager and Administrative Services Assistant II, respectively, in order to compensate the employees commensurate with their job duties. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the employees will continue to perform at levels beyond their current job classification. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
