FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: In January 2012, the White House and the United States Department of Labor announced the Summer Jobs+ 2012 initiative, which aims to create more than 250,000 jobs nationally for disconnected youth. We are inviting you to join our local effort to help create summer job opportunities for youth in Contra Costa County. While much of this was supported with funding from the American Recovery & Reinvestment BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Act (ARRA), the WDB has been able to sustain its efforts to provide summer jobs for young people with the generous support of the local community. This summer, the WDB is working in conjunction with Contra Costa County schools and local business to connect 200 young people with rewarding and meaningful internships this summer. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: This worthwhile activity will not be recognized by the Board of Supervisors CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None ATTACHMENTS Resolution No. 2012/120
