Costa 651 Pine Street County @ Martine:, California 94553-1292 DATE: February 12, 1986 TO: Classification Files 1 FROM: Shelley Pighin, Personnel Analyst SUBJECT: Request to Reclassify Acctount Clerk III to Accounting Technician (P300 #13860, Tina Kaufmann, Position #10-36) BACKGROUND: P 300#13806 was submitted on January 31, 1986 by the Auditor-Controllers office to upgrade Tina Kaufmann , an Account Clerk III, to Accounting Technician. The incumbent is within reach on the current continous Accounting Technician eligible list. FINDINGS: Subject position is assigned to the Payroll Unit of the General Accounting Section of the Accounting Division of the Auditor-Controller' s Office. On April 18, 1985 Personnel Staff conducted a desk audit on a similar position in the Payroll Unit. At that time there were (3) Accounting Technicians and (2) Account Clerk III ' s (one was position being studied at that time and the other is the current subject position) as that report indicated, all 5 positions were performing essentially the same functions. The department rotated these positions within the payroll-section so that all of the Clerks/Technicians would become familiar with other functions so as to provide back up when necessary. Either of the last 2 reclassification studies conducted on this matter can be referred to for an indepth analysis of job functions. Jeanne Afdal 4-18-85 P300#13593 Maxine Price 8-6-84 P300#13357 RECOMMENDATION: Based on the fact that the other 4 positions in the Payroll Unit performing the same functions' as subject position are classified as Accounting Technicians, Staff recommends that subject position also be reclassified.
