HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03132012 - C.68RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner as fiscal agent for the City of Danville, a purchase order with Motorola in the amount of $471,689 for East Bay Regional Communications System compliant radio equipment. FISCAL IMPACT: No net County cost. $310,256 funded by City of Danville contributions to the County's Law Enforcement Capital Projects Fund 105600. The remaining order balance of $161,433 will be paid by City of Danville via direct payment to the Office of the Sheriff. Total equipment purchase is $471,689. An appropriation adjustment on today's agenda establishes the appropriations for this transaction. BACKGROUND: The Sheriff's Office has used Motorola for their communications system (Dispatch and Field Operations) for over 20 years. Motorola has been selected in the past because of reliability and ease of maintenance. Because of the proprietary nature of this equipment, Danville PD chose to purchase Motorola communications equipment as an extension of the EBRCS P25 digital communication project.
