Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to
execute a Purchase Order with Lecia Microsystems, Inc., in the amount of $320,875.03, for
the Leica Bond Max IHC and ISH Staining System, a ST5020 Stainer and required reagents
and supplies to perform immunohistochemical staining for the Pathology Department at
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for period from
December 15, 2011 through December 14, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers Pathology
Laboratory’s current Ventana Stainer is 9 years old, far beyond its life expectancy, and
needs to be replaced. The new stainer will reduce turn-around time as well as reduces the
cost of having to send blocks out to other laboratories for processing. The reagents and
supplies are used to perform immunohistochemical staining on patient tissue samples.
Purchase of the supplies and reagents will be on an as needed basis.
