HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03132012 - C.54RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Berkeley Farms, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $218,000, for purchase of milk and milk products for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, from May 1, 2012 through April 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: The above items are needed to prepare meals that meet the American Dietetic Association requirements for balanced nutrition for the patients and cafeteria customers of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. Berkeley Farms, LLC is a part of the purchasing agreement that the county has with Med Assets, a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), to provide negotiated pricing. By combining the volume purchasing of all GPO members the County receives discounted pricing from Berkley Farms, LLC. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this purchase is not approved, we will not be able to provide patients and customers with dairy products or be able to prepare various recipes that require these products as ingredients. We will not meet Federal, State and ADA requirements to provide patients with balanced diets. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
