APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Clerk-Recorder, or designee, to apply for and accept a
Help American Vote Act (HAVA) grant in the amount of $20,000 from the Secretary of
State to provide the "HAVA Polling Place Accessibility Training Program” for the period
February 15, 2012 through December 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no County match required for these grant funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Clerk-Recorder has received a contract to allow reimbursement from the "HAVA
Polling Place Accessibility Training Program”, which includes travel expenses for County
staff to attend one of the regional training sessions for polling place surveyors, accessibility
assessment tools, equipment and activities to improve physical accessibility at the polls, and
training and materials programs during 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The County will miss the opportunity to be reimbursed for up to $20,000 in County incurred
expenses for Polling Place Accessibility Training, assessment tools, and equipment and
activities to improve physical access at the polls for the 2012 elections.
