APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5044 authorizing new revenue in
the amount of $310,256 from capital fund contributions made by the City of Danville, and
appropriating it to the Sheriff's Information Technology Division for the purchase of East
Bay Regional Communications System compliant radio equipment for the City of Danville.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action increases revenue and expenditures by $310,256, with no change to net County
cost. The new revenue is from accumulated annual contributions made by the City of
Danville to the County Law Enforcement Capital Projects Fund (105600), which is
administered by the Office of the Sheriff.
BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has used Motorola for their communications system for over 20 years.
The Danville Police Department received their dispatch communication services from the
Sheriff's Office Communications Center and to maintain continuity of this operational
relationship, Motorola is the optimal choice for related

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
communications equipment. Motorola has been selected in the past because of reliability
and ease of maintenance. Because of the proprietary nature of this equipment, Danville
PD chose to purchase Motorola communications equipment as an extension of the
EBRCS P25 digital communication project.
The total cost of the radio purchase for Danville PD amounts to $471,689, of which
$310,256 is funded through the County Law Enforcement Capital Project Fund. The City
of Danville will reimburse the Sheriff's Office for the remaining $161,433 in order to
equip all identified City staff with like equipment.
