Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:March 13, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to CANCEL an existing contract & EXECUTE a new contract with Entrix dba Cardno Entrix BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) airport projects. Currently, the Public Works Department has an existing environmental assessment on-call contract with Entrix, Inc., which expires on July 21, 2012. After a solicitation process, this firm was selected, as one of five firms, to provide on-call environmental services. The Contractor will assist Public Works Department environmental staff with obtaining environmental clearances and provide on-call environmental assessments, on an as needed basis. This on-call contract will be in effect not to exceed three years. Because the Public Works Department is entering into a new three year on-call contract with the contractor, it is appropriate for the Public Works Department and the contractor to mutually cancel the existing on-call environmental services contract. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without approval from the Board of Supervisors, necessary on-call environmental assessments may not be completed in a timely manner and necessary environmental clearances may not be obtained, which may jeopardize funding and delay the design and construction of various flood control, road, and airport projects.
