DISCUSS the status of appointments to be made to various redevelopment successor
agencies throughout the District by the Board of Directors.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. This is for informational purposes only.
BACKGROUND:
In the past, up to $12 million per fiscal year in property tax revenue has been diverted from
the District to various local redevelopment agencies. Assembly Bill x1 26 eliminated
redevelopment agencies within the State, effective February 1, 2012. This legislation
required the creation of several oversight boards to monitor the dissolution of various
redevelopment agencies throughout the State. Each Oversight Board consists of seven seats,
including one seat representing special districts. As the special district with the largest
property tax share in the County and, therefore, within the jurisdiction of cities that we
serve, the District Board of Directors is the appointing authority for the special district seat
on the county and various city oversight boards. The individuals appointed to these seats
will have a fiduciary responsibility to holders of enforceable
