HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03132012 - FPD SD.3RECOMMENDATION(S): ACCEPT an oral report on the financial situations of the Rodeo-Hercules and East Contra Costa Fire Protection Districts including potential impacts to service delivery in the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District due to existing public safety mutual aid agreements. FISCAL IMPACT: None. This report is for informational purposes only. BACKGROUND: On January 11th, the Board of Directors of the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District met to discuss the potential closing of one fire station in their District. This action would have an adverse operational and fiscal impact to the Fire District. After public comments, the Directors decided to keep the fire station open until April 1st while they review their financial status and options available to them. Louder, Chief, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Date:March 13, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:Status of potential station closure in Rodeo-Hercules FPD/Status of special tax measure for East Contra Costa FPD BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) to adopt a resolution to place a special tax before voters on June 5, 2012. Beginning with fiscal year 2012-13, the maximum amount of the proposed special tax is $197 per parcel. Beginning with fiscal year 2013-14 and for each fiscal year thereafter, the maximum amount of the special tax will increase by the lesser of 3% or the percentage increase in the CPI. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The report will not be received by the Board of Directors. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
