HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02282012 - C.60RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department
to issue Purchase Order with Philips Medical, in the amount of $381,099.67, to purchase of
19 Philips Physiologic Bedside patient monitors and related software, installation and
ancillary costs for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
The bedside patient monitors in CCU and IMCU are connected to the patient and output
physiologic data such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, ecg, cardiac output, carbon
dioxide, arterial and venous pressure. Our existing Philips Merlin bedside physiologic
monitors in IMCU and CCU are old and out of support by the manufacturer. Parts, service
and technical support will be unavailable. These devices are also on the Capital Equipment
Replacement Report, scheduled for replacement last year. Philips MP50 bedside monitors
are the chosen replacement by IMCU/CCU staff.

Subject:Purchase Order with Philips Medical for 19 physiologic beside monitors
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
In addition to the issues stated above, our existing Philips bedside monitors will not allow a
complete interface with EPIC. EPIC staff and our IS Dept. require that all bedside
physiologic monitors be networked together, connected to local application servers, which
in turn are connected to a database server. An HL7 interface will be connected to the
database server which in turn will be connected to ccLink (EPIC). This will not be possible
with our existing bedside monitors.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase is not approved patient data from the bedside monitors in CCU and IMCU
will be unable to interface with EPIC and service and repair of our existing monitors will not
be possible.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not applicable.
