APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract
with California Generator Service, in an amount not to exceed $950,000, for preventative
maintenance and repair of the County's emergency generators, for the period February 1,
2012 through January 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This cost is to be funded through Facilities Fiscal Year 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14
maintenance budgets.
BACKGROUND:
Facilities Services is responsible for maintenance and repair of all County emergency
generator sets. The County owns and operates 43 Emergency and standby generators. These
gensets provide facilities with emergency power in the event of a utility power outage.
Maintenance is contracted to outside vendors by Facility Services. Originally bid on
Bidsync #1109-012, California Generator Service and California Diesel and Power were the
awarded vendors for this work. We are requesting this contract be approved for a period
covering the next three years.
