Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-700-1 with Jaison James, M.D., Inc., a
professional corporation, effective January 1, 2012, to amend Contract #26-700, to increase
the payment limit by $675,000, from $675,000 to a new payment limit of $1,350,000 with
no change in the original term of August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On August 16, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-700 with Jaison
James, M.D., Inc., for period from August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2014, for the provision
of orthopedic services including consultation, training, on-call services and medical and/or
surgical procedures.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-700-1 will allow the Contractor to
provide additional orthopedic surgery

services due to the departure of another orthopedic surgeon at Contra Costa Regional
Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, through July 31, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa
Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers would experience longer wait
times and possibly go untreated.
