APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Risk Manager to execute a contract with Contra Costa
County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) in an amount not to exceed $198,500 to
perform medical billing reviews for the period effective January 1, 2012 through December
31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funded by the Workers’ Compensation Internal Service Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) and the Contra Costa County
Risk Management Division created a joint partnership public entity in 2003. CCCSIG has
provided workers’ compensation medical bill review services for Risk Management at
reduced annual review costs from the County’s previous private provider. This contract will
allow the County to continue to receive the same services. Effective October 15, 2012, the
State of California has mandated a new medical bill review program required on workers'
compensation claims which will require an electronic interface between the medical
provider and the claims entity. CCCSIG is working with the software provider on this
