Subject:Novation Contract #74–379–2 with People Who Care Children Association
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
On January 11, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #74–379-1
with People Who Care Children Association, for the period from July 1, 2010 through June
30, 2011, which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2011, for
the provision of MHSA prevention and early intervention services.
Approval of Novation Contract #74–379–2 replaces the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, at-risk youth from East Contra Costa County will have
reduced access to job training and other programs aimed at increasing educational success
due to delayed implementation of the Youth Development Program as defined in the Mental
Health Services Act.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This MHSA-PEI program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community
outcomes: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe
and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes
include increases in social connectedness, communication skills, parenting skills, and
knowledge of the human service system in Contra Costa County.
