HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01102012 - C.38RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Novation Interagency Agreement #74–371–3 with Mt. Diablo Unified School District, a government agency, in an amount not to exceed $3,948,290, to provide school-based mental health services to Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) students in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. This contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2012 in an amount not to exceed $1,974,145. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 34% by Federal FFP Medi-Cal Revenue, 34% by State Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostics, and Treatment (EPSDT), 32% by Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Diablo Unified School District BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) and family therapy; medication support; case management; outreach; and crisis intervention services for children at Sunrise Elementary School and Olympic/Alliance High School, and their families. On February 8, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Interagency Agreement #74–371-2 with Mt. Diablo Unified School District, for the period from January 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011, which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2011, for the provision of school-based mental health services to SED students. Approval of Novation Interagency Agreement #74–371–3 replaces the six-month automatic extension and allow the Agency to continue providing services through June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, SED children will have reduced access to treatment services and may require placement at higher level of care, including hospitalization or residential care in Mt. Diablo Unified School District. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This school-based program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Children Ready For and Succeeding in School”; “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS).
