ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20945 to Establish Lead Pest Detection
Specialist - Project classification (B9T1) (represented), allocate to the salary schedule at
salary level QA5 1212 ($3547.61) and add (1) Lead Pest Detection Specialist-Project
position; Establish one (1) Pest Detection Program Assistant-Project classification (B9N1)
(represented), allocate to the salary schedule at salary level QA5 1212 ($3547.61) and add
(1) Pest Detection Program Assistant - Project position in the Department of Agriculture.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $96,865 and will be fully funded
through the Exotic Pest Detection Program Agreement #10-0220-1 with the California
Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
BACKGROUND:
The newly created positions are necessary for training and oversight inspection to pest
detection staff. It will also be used to enhance the departments pest detection trap inspection
program and to perform a "floating" replacement and coverage for Pest Detection
Specialists. Positions will be permanent-intermittent seasonal and based on CDFA funded

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve this action would jeopardize future Exotic Pest Detection Agreements
with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). The department may
not be able to fulfill the requirements of the Agreements which would be a breach of
contract.
