Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-604-5 with Michael Gynn, M.D., a
self-employed individual, effective November 1, 2011, to amend Contract #26-604-4, to
increase the payment limit by $230,000, from $800,000 to a new payment limit of
$1,030,000, with no change in the original term of January 1, 2011 through December 31,
2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase.
BACKGROUND:
On December 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-604-4 with
Michael Gynn, M.D.,
for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012, for the provision of
general surgery services including consultation, training, on-call, medical and/or surgical
procedures, and clinic coverage, for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and
Contra Costa Health Centers.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-604-5 will allow the Contractor to
provide additional general surgery services including a greater number of surgeries and
administrative services and allow Contractor to continue providing services, through
December 31, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring these medical services would have
longer wait times and possibly go untreated at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra
Costa Health Centers.
