Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to accept, on behalf of
the County, Grant Award #28-348 from the Rainbow Community Center, to pay the County
an amount not to exceed $5,500 for the County’s Reducing Health Disparities Pride/LGBT
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) Initiative, for the period from July 1, 2011
through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Grant Award will provide funding in the amount of $5,500 through the
Rainbow Community Center to support youth cultural competency training. No County
match required.
BACKGROUND:
The Rainbow Community Center will act as the fiscal agent and award funds to the County
for County’s Reducing Health Disparities Unit’s PRIDE/LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender) Initiative. The funds will be used by County’s Health Services Department to
provide LGBT cultural competency training to designated County staff in Probation, at
Juvenile Hall, in the homeless programs, and within County Alcohol and Drug Services
