Time Required Description of Work:
35% Report Distribution
I am responsible for preparing system-generated reports for distribution.
This includes use of a decollat:or and understanding how to use a high-speed
line printer. Once the reports are decollated and bursted, I then sort them
into the appropriate distribution bin and see that each department receives
all of their reports on time.
30% Assisting System Users
I am responsible for answering incoming phone calls. Most phone calls
received at the Data Center are from system users who are reporting problems.
It is my job to obtain all pertinent information about the problem so that
a programmer, computer operator or shift supervisor can resolve the problem.
In order to do this job, I must; have knowledge of the system and I must
be able to determine if the problem .being reported is a hardware probelm
or a software problem so that I can refer the call to the right; person.
10% Batch Reconcilliation
_ After a Data Entry Operator has finished keying a batch (of charges of
payments) I verify the keying by checking to see that control totals match.
If they do not match, I must: then research the batch and determine where
the error is. If the error is a keying error, it: is returned to the DEO
for correction. If it is a "user" error, it is returned to the originating
department for correction. It is- important to make sure that the error
messages I write on all returned are clear and understandable to the user
so that s/he can correct the error arid. return the charge slip for re-keying
in a timely manner.
10% System Archives
It is my job to maintain control over all system archive records. Ihsee
that all system reports are properly archived and microfiche filed so that
when needed by an auditor or the finance staff, it can be quickly located.
In order to do this job, I must be familiar with each report's retention
period and the importance of each. report to .the system audit trail.
10% Job Request
I receive all requests for special job processing. It is my job to see that
I collect the right information so that the job can be processed correctly.
It is also my job to see that when the job is completed, it, is sent to the
right person.
5% Data Entry
I am responsible for the data entry of all charge master updates. Since the
Charge Master contains all of the rates for the services provided by the
Health Services Department, I must key' all entries correctly arid see that my
work is verified by the billing office.
