ATTESTED: September 27, 2011 David Twa, BY:June McHuen , Deputy RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74–196–13 with Anka Behavioral Health, Incorporated, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $193,704, to provide outpatient Medi-Cal drug treatment services, for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension in an amount not to exceed $96,852, through December 31, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 50% by Federal Drug Medi-Cal and 50% by State Drug Medi-Cal. No County funds are required. (Rate Increase) BACKGROUND: This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing specialized substance abuse treatment services so that adults with co-occurring mental disorders are provided an opportunity to achieve sobriety and recover from the effects of alcohol and other drug use, become self-sufficient, and return to their families as productive individuals. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74–196–11 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #74–196–12), with Anka Behavioral Health, Incorporated, for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, for the provision of Medi-Cal drug abuse treatment services. Approval of Contract #74–196–13 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, County residents with co-occurring substance abuse and psychiatric disorders may not receive outpatient substance abuse treatment services, including individual counseling treatment and group counseling treatment services.
