ATTESTED: September 27, 2011 David Twa, BY:Carrie Del Bonta , Deputy RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Coast Counties Truck & Equipment, in an amount not to exceed $150,000, for the purchase of a 3-axle heavy duty tractor truck with an 80,000 pound gross combined weight rating for Public Works Road Maintenance. (Project No. 0672-6U2008) FISCAL IMPACT: The equipment will be purchased using 100% Local Road funds. BACKGROUND: The purchase of this equipment will enable the Maintenance Division to transport heavy equipment and vehicles using County staff. This equipment will increase efficiency by eliminating the wait time for contract transport companies and also allow County staff to transport multiple pieces of equipment on one trailer. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Continue to pay outside vendors approximately $35,000 annually for transport services and having County staff on standby to load/unload equipment.
